From the National Center for the Study of #KidLit YouTube channel: "Welcome back to another episode of Critical Conversations in Children's Literature! Dr. Lashon Daley, director of the NCSCL, is back with Iris Quiroga, an aspiring children's book author and illustrator. Today’s conversation is centered on what it takes to become a full-time illustrator in the industry of children’s literature. Iris Quiroga is an author and illustrator from California, but is immensely influenced by her Colombian heritage. Regarding her work, she writes: 'In my artwork I find it most interesting when there are diverse textures, colors, and materials all combining to tell stories with nuance and humor.' "
An article featuring me in the San Diego State University's College of Arts and Letters News page online:
I was a guest lecturer for the ENGL 503: #KidLit for Researchers and Content Creators course taught at San Diego State University in Spring 2023.
I discussed my research and process for creating children’s book illustrations! I also went into depth about how I created my website and handle my social media to promote my work.
This calendar shows the events and meetups for the San Diego Latina Illustrators (SDLI). SDLI is an informal group that I started in February 2022 for Latinas in the San Diego area to get together to draw and hangout. Members include those interested in children's literature, graphic novels, products, or art just for fun. Follow the Instagram account below for more information!
